第一次的糟鹵魚片失敗了

薑、蒜、乾粉、正宗的上海糟鹵汁、雲耳,這次還特別買了紐西蘭的青衣柳而不選便宜的龍俐柳,最後竟然還是失敗了。

味道太鹹而且沒有酒香的味道,青衣柳也比較老, 看來各種材料的對比和火候應該出問題了,唯一滿意的是賣相還可以,哈哈。。。

稍後要再請教媽媽才成。

西班牙黑毛豬扒

太太的朋友做食材進口生意,所以今天有幸第一次自己煎正宗的西班牙黑毛(Black Iberian Pig)豬扒,口感很像廣東叉燒、很彈牙、而且有股以前的濃郁肥豬肉味道。

I used to be a cheese cake lover, the best one I remember was the New York cheese cake from Mandarin Oriental (HK) cake shop. Then I had too much of it, so I quit.

This little shop in downtown Vancouver was definitely a rediscovery of cheese cake for me, especially the unique taste of this Maple Walnut one and the double chips chocolate cookie as the compliment!

可能是史上最貴的一次杭州菜

今天是個特別的日子﹐去了本地杭州菜老字號“天香樓”慶祝﹐地方不難找因為之前經常經過。

前晚還特別做了事前研究﹐所以心裡大概有了個菜單。

80幾年的老鋪果然很有味道﹐我特別喜歡這裡六七年代的感覺。小店只有7張台﹐大概20來個客人加上幾個員工和老闆娘。

天香樓的陳年花雕酒果然香氣撲鼻﹐新來的店員還很有心地問我們要不要先暖酒才上。這次服務態度很好﹐很友善﹐跟幾年前第一次5分鐘不到就離座的不愉快經歷截然不同﹐那次可能是個持老賣老的開國員工吧。

我小時候最喜歡吃東坡肉﹐曾經試過找遍西湖邊的各大名菜館子﹐為的就是吃到最好的東坡肉﹐當年第一的居然也是天香樓﹐當然香港的這間才是老祖宗字號。

天香樓最出名的蟹粉雖然好吃﹐但沒傳說中那麼“犀利”。

天香樓的價錢也和其食物質量之高完全成正比﹐一年才一次﹐沒問題啦。

倒是今晚的膽固醇完全超標了﹐達到爆燈指數。

最後還巧遇蘇民峰師傅和女友在鄰桌用膳﹐真人跟電視上差不多。

I really enjoy cooking this kind of stuff on a quiet Sunday morning. I still remember Nonna (Grandma in Italian, my land lady) used to cook this yummy dish every Sunday during my 2 years stay in Chichester, West Sussex, England, wow…that was 20 years ago. :)

Delicious Mediterranean Salad for Lunch

Mix Greens from Australia, Cherry Tomatoes from Israel, Organic Cucumber from Local, Feta Cheese from Greek, and a touch of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic from Italy. Together with a slice of home baked bread and some left over Carbonara, this makes a perfect lunch!

The cost for the salad per serve is about HK$25, way cheaper and healthier than buying the ready-made ones from super market, this price of course not counting the labor that is. :)
